Juvederm® Vycross™ Technology
Juvéderm® VYCROSS™ Voluma, Volift & Volbella
Vycross™ refers to the molecular structure of hyaluronic acid (HA) and how the molecules are cross-linked. While most Hyaluronic Acid fillers are formulated with a 100% high-molecular-weight HA, the fillers in the Vycross™ collection contain a proprietary blend of just 10% high-molecular-weight HA and 90% low-molecular-weight HA.
The addition of 1,4-Butanediol Diglycidyl Ether (BDDE) reacts with the HA chains causing them to cross-link thereby stabilizing the hyaluronic acid. This results in a dermal filler that lasts longer than its predecessors and other competitive products on the market.
The main difference between Allergan's three Vycross™ products is their HA concentrations, which can also be explained of in terms of viscosity: Juvéderm® Voluma has the highest concentration of HA (most viscous), Volift has a moderate concentration or viscosity and Volbella has the lowest (least viscous).
